Health Starts In The Kitchen

We welcome chefs, registered dietitian nutritionists and other culinary experts to offer dynamic cooking demonstrations, teach cooking classes, provide food tastings or offer other food-related services. Corporate sponsors are also welcome. Revenue generated from Health Starts in the Kitchen will be used to provide free classes to underserved populations in our local community.

Fee for this class only: $60 See discounts below.  Register for the entire series and receive more savings. The fee includes all service taxes, food, supplies and recipes. Beverages and a light snack will be provided during this class. A portion of the fee supports Health Starts in the Kitchen mission to reach underserved populations in our community.

Health Starts In The Kitchen

On October 29, Emmy-award winning public television host and cookbook author Lidia Bastianich launched the opening of Health Starts in the Kitchen.  Nutrition Department Chair, Dr. Martine Scannavino led a conversation with Lidia that explored her history and passion for food, family and cooking.  We greatly appreciated the support of the local community by attending this special event.  Please join us for upcoming programs – we look forward to cooking with you soon!

Health Starts In The Kitchen

Held in the Allen Center for Nutrition’s new teaching kitchen, we offer small group cooking classes and demonstrations designed to make it easier for you to prepare more healthful meals at home. Led by chefs, registered dietitian nutritionists and other culinary experts, you will enjoy hands-on cooking experience as well as sampling the delicious recipes.
