Havana Kitchen Temecula

I happened to be in Temecula for a dental appointment with my husband. While waiting for me, he selected this cafe for our lunch after reading Yelp reviews. The dental staff confirmed that we'd enjoy the food here, so off we went. Wow, we really loved the pork plate that we shared. It came with moist tasty pork, caramelized plantains, white rice, and black beans. We also ordered a beef empanada and a pork empanada. Both were very good. Wish the portions were a little bigger on the plate. Next time we will get our own! We also shared a guava smoothie which was refreshing. My husband had the traditional flan, which he said was firm and creamy. Orders are taken at the counter, and food brought to your table. Street parking was easy with no meters, unlike LA! We will definitely be back next time we're in Temecula!

Flavorful Cuban Eats Over the past two years I've learned to love Cuban cusine. It is a simple fare that takes traditional Caribbean ingredients and adds Spanish and African cooking traditions to create mouthwatering comfort food. My favorite Cuban dishes are empanadas and Cuban sandwiches. I'm also a huge fan of the variety of savory and sweet ways that plantains are prepared and served. This restaurant was a great find. I love that it is located in Temecula old town. Portion sizes for the price was off being that you have to order from a counter. The ambience is a college coffee shop feel with splashes of Cuban flare throughout. Service was quick and friendly. I had the Cino Chicken Curry bowl that I was told was prepared in the old Havana Cina town style. It wad delicious. I also had the original Cubano sandwich with Cuban roast pork, black forest ham, swiss and tasty Cubano sauce. The simplicity makes this sandwich with the flavor on point. I want to go back soon to explore the area more and try some empanadas.

You might not think that Temecula would have a place for a decent Cuban Sandwich but you'd be wrong. I'm only sorry that we've walked past this so many times on the way to other shops and restaurants without stopping in to eat. Today we decided to remedy that situation. I had the classic Cubano with falling apart tender, slow cooked pork, black forest ham, dijon mustard, pickle and Swiss cheese on a pressed roll. Very tasty and I'd order it again. My wife and I split a chicken and cilantro empanada so we could try one and it with the dipping sauce was really good, but very oily. My wife had the roast pork sandwich with iced tea and I had a cappuccino. The espresso in my capp was robust to say the least. Lunch came in around $29. The place was busy, people were happy, staff were happy, I like the look of the place. I can't give more stars because both sandwiches were so greasy it made our stomachs feel queasy.
